S.U.C. 8th Convention, Pittsburgh
|
RESOLUTIONS
-
The Serbian Unity Congress (SUC) should take initiative to support
expedient return of Serbs to their homes in Lika, Kordun, Banija, Slavonija
and Dalmacija under the provisions of the Erdut and Dayton Peace
Agreements.
The SUC should take initiative to ensure protection of civil rights of
Serbs, including religion, schools and alphabet.
-
The 8th General Assembly moves that the Board of Directors be in
charge of reviewing existing policies and procedures of SUC, namely: (1)
The Mission Statement that defines the purpose and goals of our
organization to reflect more on the dynamics in the Serbian lands and the
international environment, and to adopt them accordingly; (2)
Organizational structure and procedures should be modified to best serve
the adopted changes.
-
The SUC condemns in the strongest possible terms the secret
indictments of alleged Serb war criminals as well as the arbitrary and
abusive behavior of NATO and the Hague Tribunal in arresting such
individuals.
The Tribunal must apply the same strict standards of equal justice
and due process as practiced in the courts of the United States.
-
That the SUC take the lead in requesting that all Serbs in Diaspora
be permitted to apply for and receive the rights of Serbian citizenship.
-
That the SUC should request a formal apology from the government
of the Republic of Croatia for the genocide committed against the Serbs
during WWII.
Half a century later, and as a direct result of the neglect of the
communist government of the Former Yugoslavia to implement a de-
nazification program and educate the Croatian population, the cycle of
atrocities has repeated itself.
The SUC should take the initiative to request that the WWII
Jasenovac concentration camp be restored as a memorial to its victims,
and that the government of Croatia declare a day of remembrance for the
Serb and other victims of genocide.
-
We hereby resolve that we support the Serbian people as we have in
the past.
We hereby resolve to mediate intra-Serbian conflicts, assist in
managing intra-Serbian problems, and help the Serbs maintain their
national unity.
